Yooka Laylee and the Impossible Lair Review

Yooka Laylee and the Impossible Lair is a super fun platforming game. It’s the sequel to the acclaimed Yooka Laylee. I had a great time playing the game. The graphics are great and the gameplay is pretty good.

Gameplay

In general, the game is great really fun to play. It makes me wish that I was able to play the original. This game is super difficult but that is balanced with level design to keep the difficulty from giving you that ‘I’ll never finish the level’ feeling. The controls are pretty simple but a couple of the more advanced moves take some practice. The story is pretty good but I’m not far enough in to judge.

Graphics / Sound Design

The game’s art style is nice. The lighting is a little too blue and super bright. the character animations are very fluid. The game has a good and super creative sound design. The music itself pretty good but the sound effects are annoying. But the one thing that I didn’t like is that HD rumble activates way too much.

Lasting value

I feel that this game will take the test of time. You can take as much time with the game as you want there are lots of collectables and even maybe a hard mode unlocked after you beat the game. Finally, I give the game a replayability score of 3/5.

Total Score

I give Yooka Laylee a 7.5*
