This Week In Tech 11/11-11/17/2018

This week there’s been lots of Tesla,’ The Paris Calls, a Cloud Tax in Chicago, Valve rewards a massive bug bounty for a bug in Steam, Amazon HQ2, leaks, reports and, rumors, and more in the Other News section.

Tesla

This week Tesla made a couple of important announcments. Firstly, the Model S and Model X are getting a price bump. Also announced this week, Tesla is ending free Supercharging for new Tesla owners.

  • Model S 75D now starts at $78,000 (up $1,000 from $77,000)
  • Model X 75D now starts at $84,000 (up $1,000 from $83,000)
  • Model S 100D now starts at $96,000 (down $500 from $96,500)
  • Model X 100D now starts at $99,000 (down $500 from $99,500)

The Paris Calls

On Monday, regualters many countries got together at the Internet Governance Forum where French President Emmanuel Macron spoke about the need to regulate the internet. During the speech he talked about the Paris Call, a document to outline ways to requlate.

Cloud Tax

Also on Monday, Playstation Plus subscribers in Chicago recieved notice that Sony is going to start charging them more because the city is making them pay a 9% Amusment tax for the service.

Steam Bug Bounty

On Monday, Valve the owner of video gmae platform Steam announced that it gave a bounty of  $20,000 for a bug that allowed unlimited downloads of any game for sale in the platform.

Amazon HQ2

On Tuesday, Amazon held an event at which they announced the locations of their new headquarters. They announced that they are going to open in Long Island and Crystal City. They also announced that they are opening a operations hub in Nashville..

 

Leaks, Reports and, Rumors

Samsung Foldable Phone

On Monday,  South Korea’s Yonhap News Agency reported that their sources say that the Samsung foldable phone will be called “Galaxy F”, will cost  $1,770 and be announced in March at Mobile World Congress.

Google Pixel 3 Lite Leaks

On Friday rumors of a lower price Google Pixel 3 deemed the “Pixel 3 Lite”. The leaked imaged show that the device has a headphone jack and a .56-inch display, It aslo is rumored that it will have a  Snapdragon 670 processor.

Diskless Xbox Maybe

On Friday, Brad Sams from thurott.com reported that his sources say that Microsoft may announce a diskless Xbox. The report saif the the console may come out next yeat for as low as $200 at most.

Other News

In other news, the Windows update that was pulled last month is now back up, Sony isn’t going to E3 next year, SpaceX will launch a satilite that’s data will be amateur accessable and, the developer of the game Five Nights at Freddy’s said the movie based on it is delayed and also a AAA game based on it is in the works.
