This Week In Tech – Dec 6th 2020

This week there were a couple of major acquisitions, the Brazilian Government suffered a data breach, Qualcomm announced the Snapdragon 888 chip and more in the other news section. Acquisitions On Monday, Facebook announced that they are going to be acquiring PRM startup Kustomer. The details of this acquisition haven;t been announced so price and other details are unknown. This one is kind of surprising because of the antitrust investigation into Facebook. But that’s not the biggest acquisition announced this week, Salesforce announced that they are acquiring Slack for $27.7 billion. Slack will become part of Salesforce Customer 360. Brazil … Continue reading This Week In Tech – Dec 6th 2020

This Week In Tech – Nov 1, 2020

Firstly, I intended to write an article last week because I did not have time. Last week the US Department of Justice sued Google for anti-trust. Experts and journalists think that the suit was rushed and that it did not do a good job of establishing the problems that it focuses on search instead of advertising. They talk about business deals like Google paying Apple and Mozilla to be the default search engine on their given platforms. I agree, Big Tech should be dealt with, but I don’t think that anti-trust/monopoly law is how to deal with it. I plan … Continue reading This Week In Tech – Nov 1, 2020

Apple ‘time flies’ Event

On Tuesday Apple held their annual September product announcement event. Like WWDC it was a prerecorded event which was good but I think that the format works better for WWDC. At the event they announced updates to the iPad and Apple Watch lineups, they also announced a lot of updates around services. Apple Watch At the event they announced two new Apple Watch models the SE (budget model akin to the iPhone SE) and the Series 6. They also lowered the price of the Series 3 to $199. SE The SE is has most of the features that the past … Continue reading Apple ‘time flies’ Event

WWDC 2020

I only realized that I never posted this. It was supposed to be posted in June the week of WWDC. This is being posted now for archival purposes so it could be read as a reference for new content. This week Apple held their annual WWDC developer conference. For the first time, it was entirely online and free for everyone. For the first time, I’ve decided to cover both the Keynote and the Platforms State of the Union (which I’ve never covered before because it usually an in-person only event which is only available online to developers if anyone). In … Continue reading WWDC 2020

This Week In Tech – May 31 2020

This weeks article won’t be that long because this weekend I’ve been focusing on SpaceX DM-2. I plan to write a full article on it. This week Trump and Twitter get into a mess, Trump signs an Executive Order regarding social media companies, there will be a PS4 event on Monday, Starlink signs with the US Army and, more in the Other News section. DM-2 It’s been a big week in space this week, after being scrubbed on Wednesday SpaceX and NASA successfully launched DM-2 yesterday. This was a milestone mission because it was the first manned commercial crew mission. … Continue reading This Week In Tech – May 31 2020
